Home Made Cashew Milk



What type of milk do you prefer? Can you consume dairy? Maybe you just like a different taste.


With so many milk options in the supermarket, you now have the option to choose a milk that is best suited for your health.


Some types of milk, most commonly cows and soy, can cause allergies, skin issues and gut issues for many people. If these types of milk cause issues for you, it may be time for you try another type.


Oat milk, coconut milk, cashew milk and almond milk are some of the better options for people suffering from the unwanted side effects of cow and soy type milks.


One of my favorite types of milk to consume is cashew milk. It is tasty, full of healthy fats and pairs so well with a fruit salad smoothie bowl.


Make your own cashew milk!


Ingredients

1 cup unsalted raw cashew nuts

1.5L water

1 teaspoon organic vanilla bean paste

1/2 Mejool date (optional)


Method

1. In a large glass or metal bowl add 1 cup of raw, unsalted cashews and cover with cold water. Leave overnight to soak.

2. Next day - drain the water from the bowl.

3. Add cashews, 1.5L of fresh water, 1 teaspoon organic vanilla bean paste and 1/2 medjool date (optional) to a Vitamix, nutrabullet or use a high speed blender. Blend all ingredients together until a creamy coloured milk like consistency. (Can do in batches in necessary)

4. Keep refrigerated and use within 7 days.
